Chief Operating Officer of Delivered Social honoured for outstanding leadership, community impact, and dedication to helping businesses thrive.
Terence Carvalho, Chief Operating Officer of Delivered Social, has been named the recipient of the Influential Man in Business Award 2026 for Digital Marketing Expertise, recognising a career defined by exceptional leadership, business growth, and an unwavering commitment to supporting both local organisations and the wider community.
Known to many as the “Pompey TikToker”, Carvalho has built a reputation that extends far beyond digital marketing. His ability to combine strategic business expertise with genuine community engagement has made him one of Portsmouth’s most recognisable advocates, while helping Delivered Social become one of the UK’s highest-rated digital marketing agencies, renowned for its client-first approach and commitment to making professional marketing accessible to businesses of all sizes.
Carvalho’s professional journey began in hospitality, where he spent 15 years developing the leadership, communication, and people skills that continue to shape his career today.

Growing up in Portsmouth, he discovered an early passion for bringing people together and creating memorable experiences, progressing through restaurants, bars, hotels, and theatres while leading increasingly larger teams.
“My journey started in hospitality, and looking back, that is where I learned everything that still matters to me now,” Carvalho explained. “I have always wanted to make people’s day a little better. In 2022 I took a leap into a completely different world, digital marketing, when I joined Delivered Social. It was a big change, but the same thing still drives me, helping the people and businesses of my city to thrive.”
That transition into digital marketing proved to be a defining moment, allowing Carvalho to transfer years of customer-focused leadership into a fast-paced industry where relationship-building remains at the heart of success.
As Chief Operating Officer, he has played a key role in supporting businesses ranging from independent high street retailers to national brands, while helping charities maximise their impact through innovative marketing strategies.
“Relationships, first and foremost. I genuinely care about people, and I think that comes across in how I work,” he said. “A real can-do attitude, a willingness to graft, and showing up for your community have opened many doors. People can tell when you mean it, so I always try to be myself.”
His resilience has been tested throughout his career, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic while managing Becketts, a restaurant, bar, and hotel in Southsea. Faced with unprecedented challenges across the hospitality sector, Carvalho successfully adapted operations to remain profitable while simultaneously stepping forward to help run one of Portsmouth’s Covid testing centres. Rather than allowing adversity to define his future, he embraced change, leaving hospitality after 15 years to begin an entirely new chapter in digital marketing.
That experience continues to influence the advice he shares with aspiring professionals entering the industry. Carvalho believes that career paths rarely follow a straight line and encourages others to value every stage of their professional journey. He advocates building genuine relationships, remaining generous with time, becoming actively involved within local communities, and recognising that communication and people skills are fundamental to long-term success.
Today, Carvalho finds the greatest satisfaction in seeing the tangible impact his work has on others. Whether helping local businesses grow their customer base or supporting charitable organisations in reaching those who need them most, he values the opportunity to contribute directly to the community that has shaped his own career.
Among his many achievements, Carvalho considers receiving the Love of Portsmouth Award from Hive Portsmouth in 2024 to be his proudest accomplishment. The honour recognised years of volunteering and championing the city he proudly calls home, reflecting a commitment to community service that extends well beyond business.
Looking ahead, Carvalho remains focused on continuing Delivered Social’s growth while expanding his involvement in several major initiatives supporting Portsmouth. During 2026, he is contributing to the city’s Portsmouth100 centenary celebrations through the Pompey People podcast for ExpressFM, writing a monthly column for The Portsmouth Magazine, co-curating a section of a new exhibition at Portsmouth Museum, and actively promoting Portsmouth’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2029. He also plans to further develop the Portsmouth Ambassadors programme, encouraging more people, particularly younger generations, to become passionate advocates for their city.
Receiving the Influential Man in Business Award has strengthened Carvalho’s determination to use his platform responsibly and continue creating positive change.
“Receiving the Influential Man in Business Award for Digital Marketing Expertise means a great deal,” he said. “It has reminded me not to take that platform for granted. If people consider me influential, then I want to use that influence well: to champion my city, support good causes, and encourage others coming up behind me. It has made me even more determined to keep giving back, and to keep showing what is possible when you lead with genuine passion and strong principles.”
Throughout his journey, Carvalho credits three individuals for shaping both his career and personal values. His father, a Royal Navy serviceman of 27 years, inspired his lifelong passion for Portsmouth. Former Shaping Portsmouth Chief Executive Stef Nienaltowski introduced him to the Portsmouth Ambassadors programme, transforming civic pride into active community leadership. Jonathan Bird, Chief Executive Officer of Delivered Social, provided the opportunity and confidence to transition from hospitality into digital marketing, ultimately supporting Carvalho’s progression to Chief Operating Officer.
The Influential Man in Business Award 2026 for Digital Marketing Expertise recognises Carvalho’s exceptional contribution to the marketing industry, his commitment to helping businesses achieve sustainable growth, and his ongoing dedication to strengthening the communities he proudly serves. Through authentic leadership, strategic vision, and a genuine passion for people, Terence Carvalho continues to demonstrate that lasting business success is built not only through innovation, but through meaningful relationships, service, and purpose.
