Kim Uzell has been recognised with the Influential Women in Business 2026 Award for Financial Wellbeing & Education, celebrating her outstanding commitment to breaking down barriers in financial education and helping people build healthier relationships with money.
After more than three decades working as a stockbroker and wealth manager, Kim stepped away from a successful corporate career to focus on a mission she felt could no longer be ignored: making financial conversations more accessible, relatable, and actionable for everyone.
Through The Financial Wellbeing Academy, Kim has dedicated herself to helping individuals, families, and workplaces navigate financial challenges with confidence and clarity. Her work focuses on real-life financial issues faced by everyday people, regardless of income or status, and encourages open, honest conversations about money.

Reflecting on her approach, Kim says:
“Not everyone can get access to good quality financial advice, but everyone has money coming in and out of their lives every day. I don’t believe that accessibility should be reserved for those who have significant amounts of money available to them.”
During the pandemic, Kim reassessed her direction and made the courageous decision to leave behind the security of a long-established career to create a more inclusive approach to financial wellbeing. Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experiences, she began helping individuals, families, and workplaces open up conversations around money, an area that often remains hidden behind shame, fear, or silence.
Her work focuses on tackling financial stress before it escalates into relationship breakdowns, mental health struggles, or long-term financial hardship. Through workshops, speaking engagements, and educational initiatives, Kim has championed the importance of financial wellbeing as a key component of overall health and happiness.
One of the defining themes throughout her journey has been resilience and a determination to challenge traditional thinking within the financial services industry. While not everyone has agreed with her outspoken stance on inequalities in financial advice and accessibility, Kim remains committed to helping more people gain confidence with money.
She also openly shares the realities of building a purpose-led business, encouraging others not to rush the process and to seek guidance and mentorship wherever possible. Having learned firsthand that professional expertise does not automatically translate into business knowledge, she now advocates strongly for accessible mentoring opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Kim says the most rewarding part of her work comes from seeing people experience life-changing improvements in confidence and financial behaviour.
Whether it is paying off debt, starting to invest, funding holidays without credit, or simply having difficult money conversations, she believes these milestones represent much more than financial progress. They are the building blocks for stronger futures and healthier relationships with money across generations.
Among her proudest achievements is receiving recognition for what she calls “breaking the silence” around finances, an issue she believes society still struggles to address openly.
“Money remains a topic we are uncomfortable talking about, so worries and stresses follow people around, and get bigger, not smaller. Every conversation can make a difference.”
Kim has also been candid about the personal challenges behind her success. At the beginning of 2025, after working exhausting seven-day weeks to sustain her business, she seriously considered giving up and even applied for a role with a major bank. She had drafted a social media post announcing the end of her journey when everything changed.
That same weekend, Kim was recognised in The Sunday Times Alternative Rich List for her work in workplace financial wellbeing under the heading “Breaking the Silence.” The experience reaffirmed both her purpose and the growing impact of her work.
Winning the Influential Women in Business Award has only strengthened her determination to continue creating change. Kim says each conversation, each breakthrough, and each opportunity to help someone feel less alone with their finances motivates her to expand her reach even further.
Behind her passion lies a deeply personal influence. More than 20 years ago, Kim lost someone to the devastating impacts of financial worry, a moment she describes as life-changing and one that continues to shape her mission today.
Her work now stands as a powerful reminder that financial wellbeing is not just about money. It is about confidence, relationships, mental health, and creating futures where no one suffers in silence.
