Walking Woofs Honoured with Inspirational Women in Business Award 2026

Walking Woofs, the award-winning dog care provider led by founder Jenny, has been recognised with an Inspirational Women in Business Award 2026 for Outstanding Services to the Canine Industry, celebrating her exceptional contribution, professionalism, and commitment to animal welfare.

Founded in 2016, Walking Woofs has grown into a trusted, 5-star rated pet service offering dog walking, home boarding, and day care across Dunkeswell, Broadhembury, and Honiton. Fully insured, licensed, DBS-checked, and Canine First Aid trained, the business operates under licence number EDDC/026/AL with East Devon Council, ensuring the highest standards of safety and care.

“We welcome you with open paws,” says Jenny. “Whether clients are heading off on holiday, travelling for work, or simply busy with day-to-day life, my team and I are there to feed, walk, play and, of course, hug their dogs. The greatest gift we can give owners is complete peace of mind.”

Walking Woofs is known for its home-from-home approach, delivering personalised care through boarding, daycare, and group walks tailored to each dog’s individual needs. Welfare is always the top priority, supported by a dedicated team with a shared passion for animals.

Jenny’s journey into business began during a challenging time in her life. After leaving a corporate career while managing severe anxiety, she turned to long walks with her dog as a way to cope. What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something much bigger.

“Walking Woofs began in 2016 during a time when I was struggling with severe anxiety and had just left my corporate job. I put a postcard in the village shop offering dog walks, and it wasn’t long before people started asking me to care for their dogs overnight too.”

Her decision to leave the corporate world was also shaped by family life. “After becoming a mother, I realised I wasn’t meant to fit into a traditional 9-to-5 role. Starting a dog-walking business felt like a return to my roots, surrounded by animals and the outdoors.”

That authenticity and passion have been key to her success. “Hard work and determination are the foundation of everything I’ve built, but above all, it’s doing something I genuinely love.”

Like many business owners, Jenny faced significant challenges, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when her newly opened day centre was forced to close. “It was an incredibly uncertain time, but I believed people would return to work and need us again. That hope carried me through.”

Despite challenges within the industry, she has remained committed to transparency, integrity, and maintaining the highest standards of care.

For Jenny, the most rewarding part of the business is simple. “The dogs, always the dogs. Seeing their wagging tails and knowing their owners trust us completely tells me we’re doing something right.”

Winning the Inspirational Women in Business Award 2026 has been especially meaningful.
“This one feels different. It recognises me personally as a female founder. Given my background and ongoing health challenges, this acknowledgement carries deep meaning and reinforces my belief in what’s possible.”

Looking ahead, Jenny plans to continue growing the business at a steady pace while maintaining the personal, trusted service that clients value. Her focus remains on providing loving, reliable care and creating a safe, happy environment for every dog.
