When asked about their journey in the industry, founder Paul Ives shared:

“I worked for a different dog training company five years ago. I was selling training programs for them. They expanded too fast and eventually shut down, but I learnt all the good parts about the business and started Four Paws.”

With eight years of experience in the dog industry, Paul’s passion for helping owners and their pets create a meaningful, lifelong connection continues to drive the company forward.

Starting Four Paws alone, Paul was soon joined by his partner Tracy, who now oversees the sales of all training programmes. Tracy brings over 30 years of experience in the care industry and has become a vital part of the business.

“In fact, we don’t sell our training programs. We talk with the customer about their dog, explain what we do, and let them make their own minds up.”

Alongside this, a strong management team including Paul, Tracy and Operations Manager Malc ensures that trainers always have the support they need. The team is even known to step in and collect dogs when required, demonstrating their commitment to both staff and clients.

This is addressed through a rigorous recruitment process focused on experienced trainers, with hiring taking place throughout the year to maintain high standards.

As Paul explains:

Staff development remains a priority, with trainers participating in monthly one-to-one video calls to ensure consistency with core values, alongside access to ongoing development courses to strengthen their expertise.
