Hilary Phillips, Founder of H. Phillips Counselling, has been awarded the Influential Women in Business – Transformative Counselling Award 2026, recognising her outstanding dedication to promoting mental health, holistic wellbeing, and transformative therapeutic practice.
H. Phillips Counselling is built on a clear and compassionate mission, to promote good mental health and support overall wellbeing for every individual seeking help. Through a professional and empathetic approach, Hilary provides tailored support that encourages resilience, personal growth, and a healthier, more balanced life.
Hilary is a fully qualified psychotherapist (Dip Couns MBACP) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

She is also an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and a Registered Member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Her extensive experience spans private healthcare, the voluntary sector, and many years within the NHS.
Throughout her career, Hilary has supported individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. Her work also includes corporate support and psychological debriefing following workplace incidents, as well as counselling services for oncology clients. Alongside this, she manages a thriving private practice.
Reflecting on her journey, Hilary explains that while psychology had always interested her, it was a career change that truly shaped her path. Drawing on her own life experiences, she embraced a new direction that would ultimately become her purpose.
“Psychology has always interested me, yet I never originally pursued it as a profession. I decided on a change of career, and I believe my life experiences inspired me to follow this path. I embraced the change and I truly love what I do.”
Dedication and passion are at the core of her success. Hilary finds her work deeply rewarding, particularly when clients place their trust in her and begin to experience meaningful transformation. Supporting individuals as they grow in confidence and achieve their goals remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of her profession.
The growing demand for mental health support presents ongoing challenges, particularly with increasing NHS waiting times. Hilary remains committed to being as flexible and supportive as possible, ensuring each client receives care tailored to their needs. She also recognises the importance of self-care, enabling her to remain fully present and effective in her role.
Her advice to women looking to follow a similar path is simple, follow your dream. She encourages thorough research, preparation, and taking that leap of faith, while remaining authentic and open to growth along the way.
One of her proudest milestones was opening her own counselling space four years ago. Leaving the security of employment to fully commit to her private practice was both daunting and rewarding. Starting with just one client, she has since grown her practice into a fully booked service, driven by determination, resilience, and strong family support.
As an integrative psychotherapist and holistic counsellor, Hilary uses a blended therapeutic approach tailored to each individual. Her work considers the whole person, including emotional, physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing, ensuring therapy remains collaborative and centred around the client’s goals.
Winning the Influential Women in Business – Transformative Counselling Award 2026 is a significant moment in Hilary’s journey. She accepts the recognition with gratitude, crediting her clients as the true inspiration behind her success.
Through compassion, professionalism, and a deep belief in the uniqueness of every individual, Hilary Phillips continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact on mental health and wellbeing.
