Precious Mementos by Sharna, a bespoke creator of memorial and sentimental jewellery, has been recognised with the Inspirational Women in Business Award 2026 for Handcrafted and Keepsake Memorials, celebrating its meaningful impact on families across the UK.
Known for transforming cremation ashes, breastmilk, DNA and other deeply personal mementos into timeless jewellery, the brand creates pieces that offer comfort, connection and lasting significance.

The journey behind Precious Mementos by Sharna began from a deeply personal place. Founder Sharna shares:
“Becoming a mother for the first time really made me reflect on my own upbringing. I was adopted, and my relationship with my birth mother ended at age 12. Sadly, she was taken from me in a tragic way, and I had nothing to hold onto. I realised how important it is to have something you can wear and touch every day. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I started learning, experimenting and creating. What started as something deeply personal quickly became a calling. People kept asking if I could do the same for them, and Precious Mementos by Sharna grew from there.”
At the heart of the brand is a deep sense of trust and care. Customers place their most precious and irreplaceable items in Sharna’s hands, and every piece is treated with the utmost respect and attention to detail.
“People trust me with the most precious, irreplaceable things they have, ashes, a lock of hair, breastmilk. That is an enormous privilege. What sets me apart is the communication and human connection throughout the process. Customers often tell me they felt anxious at first, and my job is to make them feel understood and supported. Beyond that, consistency, attention to detail and never compromising on quality are the foundations everything is built on.”
Running a business in such an emotionally sensitive space comes with its challenges. Sharna reflects on overcoming early self-doubt and uncertainty:
“Self-doubt early on caused decision paralysis. I questioned whether I could keep going, whether the business was sustainable. What always pulled me back were messages from customers, seeing how much a piece meant to a grieving family, or a new mum’s reaction to her breastmilk jewellery. That kind of impact doesn’t let you quit.”
Her advice to aspiring women entrepreneurs is grounded in honesty and experience:
“Start, even when you don’t feel ready. Don’t underestimate the power of being personal and transparent with your customers, trust is everything. Find your values early and let them guide every decision, and never apologise for charging what your work is worth.”
What brings Sharna the greatest fulfilment is the emotional connection her work creates. Each piece tells a story, whether it is honouring a loved one, celebrating motherhood or remembering a cherished pet.
“The messages I get, people breaking down crying in the best way, finally feeling close to someone they’ve lost, never get old. I also love the craft itself. There’s something meditative about working with my hands, knowing the finished piece will be worn and treasured for a lifetime.”
While awards are a proud milestone, Sharna sees trust as her greatest achievement. Hundreds of families have chosen her to create something deeply meaningful, and that responsibility continues to shape everything she does.
Looking ahead, her focus is on growth and reaching more families who could benefit from keepsake jewellery. She aims to expand her bespoke offerings, explore new designs and materials, and continue building a brand that people turn to during life’s most meaningful moments.
Even during challenging periods, including rising material costs, her commitment has remained strong.
“What changed my mind every time was the people. A message, a review, a photo of someone wearing a piece I had made reminded me that this work matters in a way most businesses don’t get to experience.”
Winning the Inspirational Women in Business Award 2026 has strengthened her confidence and reinforced the importance of her work.
“Memorial and keepsake jewellery sits in a unique space, rooted in grief, love and the most human experiences. This recognition is an acknowledgment that handmade work, created with heart for real people in real moments, is valuable.”
With a powerful combination of craftsmanship, compassion and creativity, Precious Mementos by Sharna continues to create deeply personal pieces that offer comfort, connection and lasting meaning.
