The business was founded in 2015 by Emma Roberts, Managing Director of ELR Homecare, whose personal journey into the care sector was shaped by years of study and first-hand experience. From completing qualifications in Health and Social Care at school, college and university, Emma went on to work with several care providers. While these positions gave her valuable insight into the industry, she was struck by how often profit seemed to take priority over genuine compassion. Determined to make a difference, she spoke with her father about starting her own agency – one that would be built on integrity, dedication, and an unshakable focus on people. That conversation led to the creation of ELR Homecare, which this year proudly marks a decade of service.

Over the past ten years, Emma has not only built a successful business but also ensured that her team delivers care to the highest possible standard. Every member of staff receives both online and practical training, followed by shadowing experienced carers to gain hands-on knowledge. Training covers an extensive range of essential skills including medication administration, catheter care, end of life support, manual handling, PEG feeding, pressure sore management, COSHH awareness and the delivery of person-centred care. This comprehensive approach equips staff to respond to a wide variety of needs with confidence, professionalism and empathy.

ELR Homecare specialises in providing personal care, medication assistance, food and drink preparation, and companionship – all designed to support clients in remaining safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes. For Emma, a typical day involves balancing her role as both a business leader and a mother. After the school run, her workday is filled with managing assessments for new clients, overseeing staff training, supporting new recruits, and liaising with councils, healthcare professionals, and other partners. With phones ringing constantly and emails arriving throughout the day, the role is fast-paced and demanding, yet Emma’s passion ensures every challenge is met with determination.

Despite the pressures, Emma finds her work deeply rewarding. Emma shared with pride:

The best part of this job is knowing we’re making a difference. When you see clients happy, comfortable, and safe in their own homes, it makes all the hard work worthwhile. It’s also about looking after our staff, making sure they feel supported and valued, because without them,

none of this would be possible.

She values knowing that ELR Homecare provides the level of support she would want for her own relatives, ensuring that compassion is at the heart of every service delivered.
